Cyclone Idai triggers massive disaster in Mozambique, Zimabawe and Malawi killing over 1000 people. Cyclone Idai made landfall near the port city of Beira in Sofala province on Thursday with winds over 106mph (177km/h).

1.7 million people were in the direct path of the cyclone in Mozambique and 920000 have been affected in Malawi according to UN.

In Zimbawe 20 000 houses have been damaged in the south eastern town of Chipinge, and 600 others totally destroyed.
