“Necessity is the mother of invention” if you really need to do something and becomes essential you are forced to think of ways of achieving it encouraged by creative efforts.

Much of my art can be broadly quantified as NAIVE –  of or denoting art produced in a style which deliberately rejects sophisticated techniques and has a bold directness resembling a child’s work, typically in bright colours with little or no perspective. Naive art can sometimes include finely painted subjects but with childlike images.

My work involves spraying acrylic paints on the canvas and then adding oils and schlagmetall to give the gold leaf effects. My “Egyptian Cartoons” are all done in oils.  The milking cow is made of milk tops and felt with an acrylic background. I also use recycled materials to do collage and montage!

This is my second art collection all done in the last 16 years at my residence in Westbourne Park.  My first collection which also included ceramics was destroyed in South Yorkshire …… courtesy of a rogue landlord in 2003 so this collection is very precious to me.

I love black cats, Egyptian history and bright colours.  Some people like simple, modern artworks more than old figurative fine art pieces.  This I have discovered through showing my art to family, friends and neighbours who often go for the more simple works.  I go to many art events and see the artwork that is on sale at very high prices including relatively elementary works.

When I am creating pieces, I start by using pen and pastel colours and art paper and then transform the ideas into a canvas.

The exhibition will close at 5 pm on Sunday 15th May 2022. Royal Oak Library, Porchester Road, london-W2 5DU
