Blue Iguana

BLUE IGUANA ……..PREPARE TO IRREGIOUSLY GIGGLE AT THIS IRRELIGIOUSLY GIGGLISH DARK COMEDY OF A MOVIE…..RUNNING TIME 97 MINS, GENRE – CRIME CAPER. SOLD IN 40 STATES IN THE USA. NOW AVAILABLE IN THE UK.

Video on Demand and the DVD Market is the key to accessing this unforgettable farce of a story, Rated 15.

Blue Iguana the movie, to use a well worn clichéd term, is essentially a “black comedy” where farcical happenings abound and we are all drawn into a story where we continuously expect to be made to laugh again and again at jokes surrounding the slightly slim main plot accompanied, like in all good films, with at least one sub plot. The Blue Iguana is a valuable prize gemstone. To learn more see the film as I don’t want to spoil it for you here!

The actors in Blue Iguana include top class names from the UK and across the pond, including the recent award winner Sam Rockwell as a star player in the drama. Phoebe Fox co-stars who is a hilariously nerdish sidekick who madamishly attempts to control the players in their criminal games with geeky looks, geeky comments and especially geekish enjoyment of sandwiches and other meals. Even when she appears resplendently and ravishingly groomed towards the end of the saga, her character is put down as being a four eyed cow by a character who later murders the woman he is about to go on holiday with as she is a criticising unholy blonde “cow” who he thinks deserves her comeuppance when she gets her neck casually broken for being rude – played by Amanda Donohue. Amanda’s acting in other parts of the story are rib ticklingly funny and very savvy. Ben Schwarz, and the absolutely awe inspiring Peter Ferdinando make this comedy one never to be forgotten and also one to be tasted again and again. A warning about Blue Iguana: – this film is not for the faint hearted, but it is a laugh a minute if you want to relax and you don’t want the “same old same old”…and how many people really want to be duped into watching repetitive dramas played out over the years with no new experiences or excitements to log onto?

Other characters in the film get an airing including Simon Callow, Al Weaver, Robin Hellier and Francis Hellier. Most of these parts are “cameos”.

Hadi Hajaig is responsible for both writing the screenplay and directing with co producers Harry Rushton Tom Tunney and Dan Driscoll and others. If you buy the DVD you will find more details to gorge on on the cover of the DVD or indeed just google it!

One can rarely totally rely on word of mouth or indeed reviews to crystallise the essence of a film and summarise who will enjoy it. Reviews are simply a guideline. Actually I have an extra part in this film and was on set with Sam, Phoebe and associate cast in The Hilton Doubletree (I won’t say which one) but my readers know me as one who reviews though I do like all associated disciplines with film and theatre, including writing.

See if you enjoy a new style of raw edged comedy and let us know at www.thesaturnherald.com what you think. This film has legs….laugh at it and with it…..

ENJOY
