Rising Pune utilised the slow surface at the Wankhede Stadium significantly better than Mumbai Indians to defend their 162 by 20 runs, for their third win over Mumbai this season Mumbai will now have a second chance in Benglauru in the second qualifier on Friday.

Superb performance from 17-year-old Washington Sundar, with his fuller-than-good length and straight lines meant batsmen were subdued and were not able to attack any side of the wicket with any conviction, as he finished wit sterling figures of 3 for 16 from four overs and claimed the Man-of-the-Match award.

Manoj Tiewary and Ajinkya Rahane struck fifties leaving master finisher MS Dhoni to use his wiles and hitting prowess to help Rising Pune to achieve a fighting total to defend.

Rising Pune were 9 for 2 in two overs and laboured to 121 for 3 but did well to reach 162.

MS Dhoni scored a crucial 26-ball 40 at the end of the Rising Pune Supergiant innings to lead them to a match wining total against Mumbai Indians.
