Following a Reuters report, that the company knew for decades that cancer-causing asbestos could be found in the product, Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), Drug authorities in India visited some of Johnson & Johnson’s facilities yesterday and took tests and samples of its talcum powder. If a formal investigation would be launched into the baby powder that is ubiquitous in many Indian homes a potential market of 1.3 billion people..

“Today, a few of our facilities were visited by CDSCO and local FDA authorities and we are fully cooperating with them by providing tests and samples” J&J statement said.

A source at the CDSCO said its officials took samples for testing from nine Indian cities.
