Floods again in Kerala. 46 killed over 50 missing

Heavy rains gusty winds and widespread landslides created havoc in several areas of Idukki, In Kerala, India. In Ernakulam  heavy rains have submerged  Mahadeva Temple  after water level in Periyar  river increased.

A year ago India’s flood-ravaged Southern state of Kerala  proved so deadly as they witnessed the worst flooding in a century.

Kochi airport is closed until Sunday because of floods.

Incessant monsoon rains in Kerala, and floods have claimed 46 lives, nine nodes were recovered from the landslide in Malappuram district’s Kavalappara on Saturday with over 50 people still missing.

 

Kerala saw 80 landslides disrupting connectivity and rescue and relief operations are hindered The public-rum power utility Kerala State Electricity Board’s assistant engineer Byju died while on duty on Friday.

Over 25,000 families have been evacuated and are safe in relief camps. Heavy rains have led to rising water level in river Pampa and flooding of Pathanamthitta district, that was ravaged in last year’s floods the worst in Kerala’s history.
