Hosts France stormed to the Euro 2016 final with their victory over Germany in a major tournament since 1958 in Marseille.

Antoine Griezmann, topped the tournament’s scores with 6 goals, made contributions in both half to set up a final against Portugal at the Stade de France Final on Sunday. Griezmann scored from the penalty sot right on half-time when Germanu’s Bastian Schweinsleiger was penalized for hanball by Italian referee Nicola Rizzoli in aerial challenge with Patrie Evra.

France defended and held out against German pressure before Griezmann settle the match with 18 minutes left when he turned in from close range as keeper Manuel Neuer could only half-clear Paul Pogba’s cross. Joshua Kimmich hit the woodwork for Germany and also saw a header brilliantly saved by French keeper Hugo Lloris.

With this win France is the first nation to reach the Euro final twice as hosts (also in 1984). Germany have lost four of their last six semi-finals at major tournaments in 2006, 2010, 2012 and 2016.

Although Germany had 68% possession and 5 shots on target and 6 corner they could not convert any goals.
