IPL 8 auction :Yuvraj Singh auctioned to Delhi Dare Devils for £1.7m

Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was snapped by Delhi Daredevils in the IPL 8 players’ auction, bought for a record £1.7m ( Rs 16 crore /USD 2.57m) the costliest player, at Bangalore city hotel.
Delhi Daredevils, who have the largest spending power with £39m among all the eight franchises taking part in the auction, also bought Sri Lankan captain and all-rounder Angelo Mathews for £7.5m, the third highest price in the first two rounds of auction.

RCB, bought wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik for £10.5m, the second highest price, even though it was £1.5m lower than the amount he was bought for by DD last year.Eion Morgan £1.5m by Mumbai Indians.

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen, who was bought for £9m last year by DD, was snapped up by Sunrisers Hyderabad for £2m. India Test opener Murali Vijay £3m (KXI Punjab), leg-spinner Amit Mishra (£3.5m by DD), Aaron Finch (£3.2m by Mumbai Indians and Kane Williamson (£ 60,000 by SRH).

Sri Lankans Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara and South African Hashim Amla went unsold in the first two rounds for marquee players which was attended by Ricky Ponting, Nita Ambani, Gary Kirsten, Stephen Flemming, Anil Kumble, V V S Laxman, Muttiah Muralitharan, Rahul Dravid, Vijay Mallya and Preity Zinta.
