Embattled liquor tycoon and fugitive   63-year-old Vijay Mallya “King of Good Times” who is awaiting extradition to India, and wanted in India on charges of fraud, money laundering and defaulting on loans amounting £102m was met with chants of “chor chor” ( Thief, Thief) at The Oval cricket ground on Monday where he had gone to watch the India Vs Australia World Cup cricket match with members of his family.

Surrounded by hollering Indians, the former liquor barren head of United Spirits and Kingfisher Airlines CEO refused to make a statement to the media apart from saying “I am just making sure my mother does not get hurt.”

Indian banks had contended that Vijay Mallya had secretly disposed of several assets which included the sword of Tipu Sultan and two Maybach cars.

After the match Mallaya posted a photo of himself and his son on social media.
