Mumbai Indians won by 1 run.

Mumbai Indians defeated the Chennai Super Kings by one run to be crowned champions of VIVIO IPL 20-19, in the final played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Mumbai Indians posted a low total of 149-8 batting first, and then brilliantly restricted Chennai Super Kings to 148-7. Lasith Malinga had two runs to defend off the final delivery, after a dreadful day in the field and bowled a perfectly-disguised slower delivery to dismiss Shardul Thakur LBW.

Although both teams got off to brisk starts, they both lost quick wickets. Kieron Pollard and Shane Watson helped MI finish on a high.

Jasprit Bumrah (2-14) was sensational for MI with the ball while Rahul Chahar dismissed Suresh Raina to trigger a middle order collapse.

Earlier MI innings had derailed by Suryakumar Yadav.

Kieron Pollard came out to bat when MI had slipped to 89-4 in the thirteenth over and did not want to take any risk and waited for loose ball and on the fifteenth over Imran Tahir didn’t land and Pollard duly went for six.

Shane Watson appears to save his best for the final with his knock of 80 in 59 balls.
