Neymar Jr has signed a five-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain, in the French capital , a world-record move for £198m ( €222 m) which could net him a salary of £26.5m (€30m) annually.

Although Barca were adamant Brazilian Neymar was not for sale, the monster mega deal gather momentum over recent days and resulted with his release clause being met.

On Wednesday 2nd August 2017, Barcelona confirmed Neymar had asked to leave the club as he was excused from training by head coach Ernesto Valverde.

The deal conclusion was accelerated after PSG were knocked out of the Champions League in humiliating fashion by Barca and lost the French title to Monaco last season having won it four times previously. Neymar joins ex-Barcelona team-mate Dani Alves and Compatriots Thiago Silva and Marquinhos at the Parc des Princes.

The 25-year-old became the world’s most expensive player in football history, since Neymar joined Barca only in 2013.

Speaking after the move wwas completed, Neymar said it was PSG’s ambition that drew him to the Parc des Princes, “ I am extremely happy to join Saint-Germain. Sinc I arrive in Europe, the club was always been one of the most competitive and most ambitious and what most motivated me to join my new teammates is to help the club to conquer the titles that their fans want.” 84 wins and 228 goals in 110 games together.

The Parisians’ president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the Qatari businessman who led the acquisition of the Ligue 1 club 2011, was delighted to get Neymar. “ It is with immense joy and pride that we welcome Neymar to PSG. His winning mentality, strength of character and sense of leadership have made him into a great player as he will bring a very positive energy to this club.”

Earlier Neymar went to Porto on Wednesday for a medical in anticipation of joining PSG, who are aware of the implications of the FFP on this transfer.
