Queen Elizabeth’s coffin is on its final journey to Windsor Castle being driven in the State hearse up the Long Walk. Windsor is a place that she called home and where she and the Duke of Edinburgh spent lockdowns during the pandemic and at St. George’s Chapel for the funeral of her husband just a year ago.

These are the final moments for the public to see the hearse because once it goes inside the gates of Windsor Castle will be no more members of the public. Around 800 guests will be in St George’s Chapel for the Committal Service.

The Garter King of Arms then pronounces the Queen’s styles and titles – the different names by which she was known during her reign.  During the committal service, the crown jewels were taken from it, and a ceremonial wand of office was broken and put in their place.

The Queen was lowered into the royal vault in St George’s Chapel, on the grounds of Windsor Castle, ahead of her burial later in a private family service.
