VICTORIA VEENSTRA

Victoria Veenstra – holder of two degrees in classical music, specialising in Baroque and the recorder ( some recorders cost over £1,000) performs and teaches music in Friesland – a stunning extensive rural part of Holland, much favoured by holidaymakers who like to camp or get back to nature – very popular also for young children due to the theme parks and other establishments with cute animals included,  perfect for the whole family.

Back to Victoria – who performs concerts in her local area of Boijl, Friesland with other musicians specialising in theme music with enchanting live instruments, including the Harpsichord and Lute. As said,  Victoria teaches  mainly to young children and at the event where she appears in this photograph, the remit was for the kids to make their own musical instruments thence to play them for fun afterwards.  Foods such as hard dried peas were used to be contained in vessels with a lid on them to make  a nice musical accompaniment and cut balloons were stretched over large yoghurt cartons amongst other vessels to make drums which could be played with a straw with a big pea sellotaped to the end.  Making a guitar which worked was more difficult – you can cut out a guitar shape and put on cotton, elastic, rubber bands etc but you must hopefully produce something that can be played – until mum and dad gives you the real thing of course – and the lessons to go with it.
Victoria’s website is www.victorianairprice.com, she has recorded several CD’s with graduates from The Hague Conservatoire and teaches private lessons in Boijl when asked, so do look her up! She lives in Boijl with her husband and their son and daughter together.
