Argentinian Rodolfo Alvarez (60), a volcanologist and his guide Adriac Valladares (25), were working close to the lip of active Masaya Volcano when their rope snapped and they fell into the crater. They reportedly suffered from dehydration because of high temperatures inside the crater. The firemen who rushed to the scene used ropes and harnesses to climb down and rescue them. Both men were in good stable condition according to the Nicaraguan government spokesman.
