007 catalyst double Aston Martin revenues
F1 financier Lawrence Stroll who owns Aston Martin Lagonda, the luxury carmaker whose turnaround appear to be picking up speed as its revenues doubled with a little help from 007 James Bond.
Aston Martin’s Lagonda played a leading role in new Bond film “ No Time to Die” after the appearance of four of its models, including the V8 Saloon.
Aston Martin has vital strand of James Bond’s DNA, right up there, dispatching goons and sleeping with women who betray him the next morning. In No Time to Die, Bond thrashes his classic Aston Martin DB5 around an Italian village, Nomi looks effortlessly cool in a DBS Superleggera and Aston Martin’s futuristic Valhalla is expected to make a cameo appearance.
The company’s brand boost emerged from the 007 film and F1 motor racing team today helped Aston Martin to report a near doubling in revenue to £237.6 million for September quarter having sold 1, 349 vehicles in the period. Earnings in the year to date were £190 million above expectations. But interest charges after last year’s refinancing mean the company still reported a bottom-line loss of £188.6 million for the nine months. The shares rose 61.5p,or 3.5% to 1813.5p. Stroll continues to back the company’s medium-term aim for £2 billion of revenues and £500 million of earnings aided by the restructuring actions taken since last year.
