10 killed and several seriously injured in Platra Nearnt hospital

The blaze broke out in the intensive care unit of the public hospital in the north-eastern city of Piatra Nearnt in Romania.

One doctor who tried to rescue patients some coronavirys patients  is said to be in a critical condition after suffering severe burns.

Nelu Tataru, Romania’s Health Minister said the fire was “ most likely triggered by a short

Circuit.”

Eight of the victims were reportedly killed in the room where the fire broke out on the second floor, and two others in a roon adjacent to it. All were said to have been receiving treatment for coronavirus many on venitlators.

The fire spread quickly after it was fed oxygen by the supplies used to intubate patients, the health ministry said.

Romania reporte over 350, 000 cases of coronavirus since the start of the pandemic with 8, 313 deaths.

On Friday the country record 9, 489 daily Covid cases, with 174 deaths.
