Chris Woakes and Ben stokes pulled off the Kolkatta grandstand photo-finish that had eluded England as they held their nerve this time. With 16 runs to defend, Woakes recovered from being hit for six and four in the first two deliveries of the final over could bring himself to bowl four dot-balls, including the prized wicket of Jadhav for 90 from 75 balls to seal a consolation victory. Jason Roy opening the bat with his third fifty of the series and Bairstow, a later replacement for Joe Root made 56 from 64 balls to keep England in contention in the middle overs.
