16 died in US military plane crash
Sixteen people have died after a C-130, US military plane crashed in the LeFlore County, the southern state of Mississippi 100 miles north of Jackson, the state capital, at around 16:00 local time ( 21:00 GMT) on Monday 10th July 2017.
All the victims were on the Marine Corps aircraft died according to the LeFlore County Emergency Management director Fred Randle.
The plane came down in a soybean field on the Sunflower-LeFlore county line leaving a five-mile trail of debris.
Local Fire Chief Marcus Banks said the firefighters were driven back by several high-intensity explosions possibly caused by igniting jet fuel. 4,000 gallons of foam was sprayed at the aircraft in a bid to put out the fire. There are speculation that the ammunition on board might be to blame.
