Car ploughs to pavement and injures 11
A man was dragged from a black Toyota Prius Plus and arrested after his car mounts pavement outside London’s Natural History Museum injuring 11 people. The car mounted the pavement before ploughing into two other vehicles, hitting innocent pedestrians as they made their way to the museum, Security guards appeared on the scene and dragged man understood to be a licensed taxi cab and bundled him to the ground. Armed police responded within minutes amid fears of a terrorist attack and Downing Street said Prime Minister Theresa May was “being kept fully informed” of developments. Whitehall sources later said the incident was not thought to be a terrorist attack although anti-terrorist officers are investigating the incident. Nine people were rushed to hospital following the collision. Scotland Yard said in a statement: “ Police were called at 14:21 on Saturday, 7 October, 2017 to reports of collision in Exhibition Road, South Kensington.
“ Police have asked people to avoid the area while their inquiries continue” as the current threat level in the UK is severe – the second highest meaning an attack is highly likely.
