163-carat fetches £25.6m
A 163-carat diamond necklace the largest of its kind to be auctioned has fetched £25.6m ($33.7 m) at a Christie’s event in Geneva. The colourless diamond was cut from a 404-carat stone found in Angola and the finished piece is made from white gold, diamond and emeralds.
The necklace was designed by Swiss jewellery maker de Grisogono after 1,700 hours of work. It went under the hammer at Geneva’s Four Seasons Hotel, after a series of viewing in Hong Kong , London, Dubai and New York.
The diamond has been set in a necklace of 66 pear cut emeralds and 5949 brilliant cut emeralds and also there are 18 emerald cut diamonds and 862 brilliant cut diamonds and with perfect colour , perfect clarity perfect proportions types 2A diamond.
