2 killed and 100s injured at Greek island of Kos
At 01:31 am on Friday (22:31 GMT Thursday) an earthquake with 6.70magnitude hit 7 miles ( 12km) north-east of Kos in the Aegean Sea, near the Turkish coast with a depth of 10km according to US Geological Survey and killed 2 people and injured several hundreds, on the Greek Island of Kos.
In the Turkish city of Bodrum, dozens of people were injured as they tried to flee the quake.
Both deceased who were tourists – a 22-year-old from Sweden and a 39-year-old from Turkey, have not been named, and they died after they were crushed by debris from either a collapsed wall or an old building according to police.
The epicentre of the quake in Kos appeared to be the worst hit, with damages to several older buildings with cracked walls and smashed windows.
The roof of a bar also collapsed, and a ferry was unable to dock due to harbour damage.
