Holders Australia went to the top of the World Cup table after David Warner’s 166 and Australia’s 48 run victory damaged Bangladesh’s chamces of Semi-finals.
Warner who scored two centuries in eight days, was in explosive form to become the first player in World Cup history to pass 150 twice and push Australia to their second highest World Cup score or 381-5 ably supported by Finch 51, Khawaja 39.
Bangladesh’s chase saw Mushfiqur Rahim bring up his 100 in the penultimate over as both teams amassed the most runs in a men’s World Cup game.
According to Shane Warne Australia’s late innings acceleration came 20 overs too late, but Australia went from 300 to 350 in just 17 balls, Warner was replaced by Glenn Maxwell who powered to 32 off just 10 deliveries. Australia scored 173 from the last 15 overs a total only bettered by England against Afghanistan.
