23 King cobra eggs hatch in captivity
In Kottiyoor, Kerala, South India, several months waiting was over on Sunday 30th July 2018, out of 26 King cobra eggs left for hatching 23 hatched. According to Riyas Mangad, the leader of the Rapid Response Team the eggs were kept three months, in the proper environment for hatching of King Cobra. The Department of Forests and Wildlife official were there to see five eggs hatched initially followed by other 18.
Among the three that didn’t hatch, one was damaged and the other two are kept for further observation.
Each hatching is 40-50cms long and the babies are handed over to RRT to be released in the wild.
