48 elephants in “ aanayottu” at Thrissur Vadakkunnathan Temple
Forty eight elephants were fed with healthy and delicious food which were lined in front of the Thrissur Vadakkunnathan Temple on Sunday as part of a ritual being held at the temple for the past 37 years.
Heavy rain did not prevent thousands of devotees attracted to the temple to witness the aanayoottu which is held on Sunday since the Malayalam month of Karkidakam 1 had lunar eclipse.
The elephants were fed after Ganapati homam in the morning with Rice balls with beaten rice, jiggery, herbs and fruits including sugarcanes.
