50 dead and several dozens injure in a fireworks factory explosion in Indonesia
An explosion at a firecracker factory industrial complex, in Tangerang, west of the capital Jakarta, in Indonesia on 26th October 2017, killed 50 people and injured dozens according to police.
Witnesses said a huge explosion was heard from the factory at around 9:00 am (2:00 GMT), and then several smaller explosions echoed across the surrounding areas as plumes of black smoke and orange flames leapt from the building.
Hary Kurniawan, Chief of Police said all the bodies recovered so far we found in the remains of the factory and a search of the building is continuing as the forensic officers are scanning the scene for causes of the fire.
Police also said many of the dead were found clustered at the back of the factory, suggesting they tried in vain to flee the explosion.
The explosion sparked a massive fire and brought the factory roof down and burned nearby [arled cars.
