India’s Mars Orbiter completes 100 days in Martian orbit

India’s Mars Orbiter completed 100 days of its Martian orbit on the New Year’s Day 2015 according Indian space agency officials.
The Mars Orbiter was inserted in Martian orbit Sep 24, 2014 is in good health, said officials of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
The Mars Orbiter has sent different pictures of the red planet’s surface which are being studied by the scientists.
India had sent its Mars Orbiter Nov 5, 2013 using its own rocket Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) costing around £ 51.24m (Rs.450 crores). Subsequently the Orbiter was inserted in the Martian orbit Sep 24 2014.
With this mission, India became the first Asian country to send a spacecraft successfully to Mars.
Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the second smallest planet in the Solar System, after Mercury. Mars is 141,610, 223 miles (227, 900,00 km) from Sun, with a surface area 89,973,443.95 m2 (144, 798, 50Km2) with a radius of 2,106.44m ( 3, 390km), gravity 3.711 m/s2
