In April 2009, the Olympic Committee visited Rio to discuss the bid to host the games in Brazil and was awarded in October 2009, Brazil had come a long way to prepare for Olympics over the last seven years. Back then Brazil had a steady and popular President Lula and was praised around the world, with Brazil’s Oil and gas open for business and black gold found off the coast of Rio. Now the political map of Brazil have changed for the worse, with economy in recession, political mess the government find themselves after massaging the books, after the divisive reelection of President Dilma Rousseff, calls for her impeachment and the corruption scandals which started as a Lava Javo ( Car wash) and developed into Petrolao (mega oil) where billions of dollars have been siphoned out  for kick backs to cater to oil boom and bust, with national deficit  growing, currency plummeting,  unemployment  rising and inflation all time high.
