Laura Trott 24, from Cheshunt, became Britain’s most successful female Olympian with her fourth gold in the omnium. Jason Kenny 28, from Bolton, equaled Sir Chris Hoy’s record of six GB golds by winning the Keirin. The race was twice restarted because of infringements. In cycling GB won 6 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze. Both Laura and Jason clocked up 10 gold medals between them after both made British Olympic history in the velodrome.
Kenny said “Today just felt like a dream. I’m just kind of so tired I’m just floating through it.” Trott said “I can’t believe it – I did not expect that at all. I am just so happy that it all came together”.
Giles Scott 29, won GB’s fifth successive Finn title by winning gold in sailing’s Finn class. Another sailing gold is assured from Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark.
