Google reveals -Apple’s privacy reputation has been knocked by iPhone hack
Apple’s reputation is dented by the discovery that iPhone owner’s were exposed to more than a dozen software vulnerablities for the last two years.
Hackers were able capture iPhone owner’s text messages, photos and device locations on hundreds of thousands of devices until security researchers at Apple’s smartphone rival Google revealed it of the sustained hacking campaign since February 2017.
None of the iPhone owners ever discover the hack until this week when Google informed details of the hack casting a shadow over Apple’s attempt to build anticipation for new iPhones came after Apple announced it would hold its next product launch event in Silicon Valley on September 10.
Google’s security warning triggered Apple’s apology this week for failing to disclose that contractors were listening to customer’s voice recordings when using its virtual assistant Siri.
Apple whose reputation was built on protecting its customer’s data a cornerstone of its marketing, as it tries to distance itself from privacy fears affecting rivals such as Facebook and Google.
Apple did not comment on the latest revelations although Apple acknowledged the attack when it issued a software update in February saying it fixed a flaw whereby “an application may be able to gain elevated privileges.”
