Mr. Johnson urged the public to stay at home as far as possible and think very carefully before visiting relatives on Mothering Sunday tomorrow .and said “bit by bit, day by day, your actions, your restraint, and your sacrifice, we are putting his country in a stronger position, where we will be able to save thousands of lives of people of all ages, people who do not deserve to die now”.

In a desperate move to slow the spread of coronavirus radical measures, Boris Johnson orders thousands of pubs, restaurants, cafes, Gyms, Theatres, cinemas, swimming pools to close for at least a fortnight. – but probably months.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak turns financial power by bailing out 80  per cent of the salaries of the staff who would otherwise lose their jobs, up to £2, 500 a month for an initial three months, who are furloughed rather than made redundant, a scheme that would cost the government £3.5bn if 1 million claimed for each of the three months, thereby warding off job crisis.

He said the government would support  “as many jobs as necessary” adding that £7bn would be spent on strengthening the country’s welfare safety net.

He pleaded to firms not to lay off workers by telling them “You will not face this alone” as his emergency package including deferring £30bn of value-added tax paid by companies until the end of June, cash grants to small businesses, and help for the self employers, renters and the jobless.

California police to use Chinese drones equipped with loudspeakers and cameras to enforce a coronavirus lockdown to monitor crowds despite the US  warned that such devices were a threat to security. Chula Vista police bought two $11, 000  drones made by DJI, the Chinese drone company, doubling the size of its small fleet, and plans to retrofit loudspeakers and night vision cameras, as the authorities around the world try to enforce draconian lockdown measures on cities fighting the virus outbreak and looking to limit social contact.

In Nice, France yesterday,  a drone armed with loudspeakers flew along the French seafront ordering people to stay at home and keep social distancing from each other at least 2 meters., if they were on the street for essential business.

In India, eight million people take the 66-year-old, rail network carrying 60, 000 passengers per km per day in  Mumbai’s crowded 285-mile suburban train every day packed to nearly three times its capacity, one of the busiest railway systems in the world is brought to a halt. Mumbai trains are the fastest and surest way to spread the virus to the densest parts of the city. With the coronavirus social distancing is impossible. India is conducting the fewest tests per million at the moment.
