130-car pile-up after Japanese snowstorm, 1killed and injured 10
A huge snowstorm has struck Tohoku Expressway in Miyagi Prefecture, North Japan triggering a 130-car pile-up that killed one and injuring 10 around non (3:00 GMT) on Tuesday. 200 people have been hit by severe snowstorms in the pile-up as rescuers are helping at the scene. Authorities had already enforced a 31-mile (50km) speed limit on the road due to poor visibility. The wind speed of about 62mph (100km/h) at the time of the incident.
According to local media, the region is expected to record up to 40cm (15inches) of snow in the next 24 hours.
Only last month, heavy snow leftover 1, 000 vehicles stranded on the Kanetsu expressway for two days.
