South Africa win by 4 wickets
South Africa pulled off a four-wicket win in the final over against Sri Lanka from the jaws of defeat in the Men’s T20 World Cup despite Wanindu Hasaranga’s hat-trick.
Porteas needing 16 from the final over, David Miller launched two towering sixes off Lajiru Kumara before Kagiso Rabada shot the penultimate ball for four to win the thriller.
Leg-spinner Hasaranga had seemingly turned the tie in Sri Lanka’s favour by claiming a hat-trick across two overs to leave South Africa on 112-6 in pursuit of 143 in Sharjah.
Earlier opener Pathum Nasanka hit a fine 72 off 58 balls to help Sri Lanka to a respectable total of 142 despite South Africa spinner Tabrai Shamai’s 3-17.
