Muksesh Ambani acquires 40 per cent stake in Manish Malhotra
Reliance Brands Ltd, part of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries Ltd, acquired 40 per cent stake in famous fashion designers Manish Malhotra’s MM Styles Pvt Ltd, a 16-year-old luxury brand. The deal is intended to boost the brand’s positioning and drive international growth.
Manish Malhotra, a self-taught designer who got hi start as a stylist and costume designer in Bollywood films, is known for high-octane glamour and Indian craftsmanship, currently has 12 million followers in social media and physical footprint in four stores in India and has strong following in the US, UK and Middle East regions.
RBL has wide portfolio of fashion brand partnerships in the Indian market, with international labels like Burberry, Diesel, Versace and Tory Burch, and has physical retail infrastructure that includes 1, 339 doors spit between 595 stores and 744 shop-in-shops in India.
Manish Malhotra started a programme with the International Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) and London School of Trends ( LST) where he will be able to provide specialized fashion education online.
