“The American Dream” makes Guinnness Book of Records for World’s longest car

The world’s longest car finally has been restored and is ready to cruise as of March 1, 2022. The super limo rolled in at a  length of 30.54 meters ( 100 ft and 1.50in) breaking its 1986 record by the smallest fraction.

First built in Burbank, California in 1986 by Jay Ohrberg, a noted car customizer called it “ The American Dream” originally measured 18.28 meters (60 feet) rolled on 26 wheels and had a pair of V8 engines at the front and rear.  Later Jay extended the limo to 30.5 meters  (100 feet ) long. Most cars measure between 12 to 16 feet ( 3,6 to 4.2 meters).

The model is based on the 1976 Cadillac Eldorado limousines, the record-breaking automobile can be driven from both ends and also can operate as a rigid vehicle.

The limo features a large waterbed, a swimming pool complete with a diving board, jacuzzi, bathtub, mini-golf course, several TVs, a fridge, a telephone, and a helipad. The American Dream can accommodate more than 75 people.

The helipad is structurally mounted to the vehicle with steel brackets underneath and can hold up to five thousand pounds according to Michael Manning who was involved in The American Dream restoration.

The world lost interest in The American Dream, the legendary car sat unloved for years as decreased demand for the unique car in Hollywood movies caused its fame to eventually burn out.

Michael Manning in Nassau County, New York, owned Autoseum, a technical museum, which recovered the colossal caddy for restoration. Plans to restore it to its former glory through community donations and Michael Dezer owner of the Dezerland Tourist Attractions purchased the caddy and shipped to Orlando, Florida to be restored, costing the project  £190, 725 ( $250, 000)  and took three years to complete.
