Get dazzled by Camden Lock, the 1902’s tube station Staples Market with diverse traders and hawkers.

Camden Town station, which opened in 1902, was used as an interchange by Charing Cross, Euston, and Hampstead railway the forerunner of today’s Northern Line tube, serving as the point where customers going north could transfer between services. Now more than 20 million journeys start or end at Camden Town Station. One branch went to Highgate the current Archway station and one branch went to Hampstead. The station was designed by architect Leslie Green and features the oxblood terracotta faience tile exterior and moon windows that are trademarks of the station designs. In the early 1920a services from the City and South London  Railway began calling at the station. In October 1940, the station was damaged during the Blitz, destroying one side of the station, although the station entrance was unscathed. At the Kentish Town Road entrance, you can see a triangular-shaped frame which is an original Edwardian advertising board, and above each entrance is a metal roundel silhouette.

Camden Lock with his history of the elegance of this double lock and the walkways on either side along the Grand Union Canal was formerly a wharf with stables on the Regent’s Canal. Camden Lock is also one of London’s top shopping, with over 1000 places to shop, entertainment areas, and home to live music venues, cafes, and bars. 

Camden Lock market and staples market are open from 10 am to 6 pm every day ( except Christmas) and on weekends totally overcrowded. The Stables feature distinctive horse tunnels and stable blocks when the area was used by the horses that shunted cargo along the canal.
