Flybe flight delayed by a bee!
The pilot of Flybe flight BE384 from Southampton to Dublin was aborted and forced to turn around and head back to Southampton Airport as the
navigational systems was savaged by Bees. The insect flew into one of the instruments on the outside of the jet. Safety of passengers was primary
concern for the crew as the navigational systems stopped functioning properly. The plane was delayed for two hours. The spokesperson said that
Flybe was sorry for delaying their customers but the airline had to ensure all their planes were safe.
In Dominican Republic a Boeing 757 carrying 189 people crashed five minutes after taking off in February 1996 after the pitot tube that measures the speed of an aeroplane
was blocked by a wasps nest. Misguided by false airspeed readings, the pilot stalled accidently and the aircraft went into a spin and crashed into sea killing all on board.
