I dipped into The Prophet by Kahil Gibran to try and find some words of comfort following the tragic mass shooting of holidaymakers in Sousse Tunisia to post on the site and nothing was soothing and deep enough to merit their repetition. So here are some words of my own. There is a popular “word” used in phonetexts “YOLO” meaning You Only Live Once. It is too sad to think that the people who lost their lives on holiday were making the most of their money and their time to enjoy time with the people they love in a place which is beautiful – vast sandy beaches, wonderful warm temperatures and mostly kind and helpful indigenous people there. Yet in a flick of the switch one sad mad young man stole away their futures and their dreams plunging many of us around the world into shock disbelief mourning confusion and fear. Life can be brief enough in many ways and long in others, but we at The Saturn Herald hope that those who are bereaved can ultimately find some comfort and consolation from their terrible loss though it will be a long and hard journey to do so. Our prayers are with you now and always. And we urge anyone who has the same urges as the terrorist who did this appalling crime to get help – not to give up their lives to take others’ innocent lives. I am not going to mention religion as this is not a crime of religion it is a crime of despair and madness by someone possessed and poisoned by evil and negativity. We hope here in the UK any people wanting to kill and die will instead find a way forward – find love, find happiness, find meaning which will turn around their lives 100 per cent. Art is great – they can turn to art and become artistic. Love is great – they can turn to love and find its endless mesmerising idiosyncratic beauty. They can look at nature and wonder at its creation. They can learn to enjoy all the plenteous foods and drinks we have at our disposal. Ultimately they can turn around and help others and be as one not act alone and leave a legacy of bitterness, loathing, timorous ways and dejection especially for the children who are tomorrow’s heros and heroines. May the afflicted families find some solace and may we all learn to cherish our days on this earth and the meaning of friendship more than ever. Amen.
