Terry Adams – Crime Boss – “too poor” to pay back stolen assets
Though he has lived a millionaire lifestyle in London’s West End, the boss of the Admas family crime syndicate was unable to pay £750,00 of ill gotten gains when jailed for conspiracry to conceal proceeds of criminal conduct in 2007. He lost an appeal to have his debt written off last year and claimed to be “living like a ponce” off Ruth – his wife. However his outings had included 20 meals at Browns Mayfair, trips to the Ivy, The Dorchester and The Royal Opera House.
The judge – Mrs Justice Davies observed Adams had an “undisclosed cash reserve” and failed to make a “full and candid disclosure” about his wealth. Having thrown out his case, a new hearing has been organised probably in 2016 to decide whether his debt can be cut with a “certificate of inadequacy”, and jailing for non-payment will be withheld until then.
