41 killed as a bus crashed into a ravine in Salta
41 people killed in a bus crash in a ravine in Salta, north of Argentina around 932 miles from Buenos Aires. The bus carrying 60 border patrol officers, part of a convoy of three plunged 50 feet into a dry riverbed after the driver lost control on a bridge.
Gustavo Solis, Mayor of Rosario de la Frontera, in Salta, said the road is known to be in bad condition and is certainly avoided by the local at night.
According to police the visibility was good at the time and they said it could be mechanical failure.
President Mauricio Macri sent his condolences to the families of the victims, and said “We need to improve our highways so these things don’t keep happening.
