Massively rich Chinese Mogul invests in London property
Wang Jianlin – China’s richest man has recently bought a property in London’s “billionaires’ row” for £80 million. “Chollywood” Chinese movie tycoon, who is worth more than £20 billion, has taken a long lease on a Kensington estate based in Kensington Palace Gardens.
Formerly an army commander in the Chinese Army, Wang Jianlin is expected to spend up to £50 million on a refurbishment of the mid-Victorian estate.
Others who own property on the estate include steel magnate, Lakshmi Mittal, Foxton’s founder Jon Hunt, French ambassador Sylvie Bermann, and Formula One heiress, Tamara Ecclestone.
The private road runs next to Kensington Palace and is regarded as highly secure. It has armed police on duty at both ends 24 hours per day. The Russian and Israeli Embassies are also there.
The Tycoon also owns the Dorset based Sunseeker Luxury Yacht business and his wife Li Ning is affiliated with the management and ownership of a string of clubs in China. Wang also owns a 20 per cent share of the Spanish football club, Atletico Madrid which he paid for in April to the tune of £23 million.
Chollywood is the “new” name for the Chinese film industry which was hosted by Wang with a party involving Di Caprio and Travolta, Zeta Jones and Ewan McGregor as well as Nicole Kidman in 2013 in the North East city of Qingdao.
Wang’s son, Wang Socong was criticised recently when he bought two £800 Apple watches for his dog Wang Keke. Socong was educated at Winchester College and University College London.
If Wang wants to invest in any British written film scripts, please contact us at The Saturn Herald. We have a few scripts on board which need funding.
