A Saturn Herald poem reminds us to respect the good things in life.
OK the New Year has brought bills and austerity and news on adverse weather conditions and terrorism so perhaps before getting down, we all need to look at the positives in a poem. Here it is. Written by someone with more than 20 years’ experience in poetry, song, and other writing it simply tells us to count our blessings, and the write retains anonymous.
We have food aplenty, tasty meals and lovely drink,
Don’t want to be disagreeable but it does make you think,
We have the easy ability to joke and raise a smile,
If we exercise, ‘specially at the gymn we can even run a mile,
As we are the lucky people we can start feeling smug,
Not only can we always be content with a full belly,
But we can relax day or night, put our feet up and watch the telly,
Or go out and see or make new friends,
And dance away the hours ’til the evening ends,
We can seek and find a lonely person and cheer up their life,
And feel better inside that we’ve reduced their strife,
So please, dear readers, reminisc and ruminate on the things that are good,
And do all the things make you happy that you possibly would and could.
