South Africa won by 37 runs
South Africa survived a enthusiastic chase by Afghanistan to defend 209 score, to get their hopes alive in the World Twenty20 campaign. Chris Morris and Imran Tahir destroyed the middle order to ensure AB de Villiers’ 64 efforts and including the 29 runs off Rashid Khan in the 17th over, was enough to see them through. Afghanistan kept the run-rate as Mohammad Shahzad threatened to reach the 200 plus total all by himself as he scored 32 runs off the first two overs of Kagiso Rabada ande Kyle Abbot, and their first half of their innings and were ahead of where South Africa were at some stage, but lost too many wickets. South Africa on the other hand held de Villiers back and sent in Faf du Plessis at No.3.
