Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat, as Ahmed Shehzad 52, Mohammad Hafeez 64 and Shahid Aridi’s 19-ball 48 ensured Pakistan posted a respectable 201 for 5. They took 18 runs in three overs but in the 9th and 14th over failed to score a boundary. Afridi promoted himself to No 4 and lofted a six and two fours in consecutive balls to produce an 18-run over. Tamim, Bangladesh’s best batsman had sent the first ball of Afridi over for a six and lifted Malik over extra-cover for another six, but his third attempt reaching the boundary produced a simple catch to Imad Wasim at midwicket. Bangladesh was behing as they wanted to score 133 runs in the last ten overs. The asking rate of over 13 was too much for Bangladesh and they collapsed.
