Apple granted second patent for its fold-able smartphone design
Apple has been granted a second patent for its fold-able design for the iPhone, with screen folded inside it and another where the display wraps around the outside of the device like a book and double-hinged design which can carry both. Apple received its first patent back in 2016 for a fold-able phone.
The second patent is focused on a flexible hinge and the use of fabric for its housing, according to Apple “An electronic device, comprising a flexible hinge coupled between the first and second housing portions wherein the flexible portion of the housing comprises fabric”.
Earlier in September 2018, South Korea-based electronics giant Samsung released a teaser of a phone with bendable and fold-able technology that would offer the functionality of tablet complete with multi-tasking and a big screen. Samsung’s much awaited fold-able device could debut in November 2018 at Samsung’s Developer Conference.
