Apple Music amassed 10 million subscribers in six months
Apple Music, which was launched in 100 countries in June 2015, has amassed over 10 million subscribers in six months which their rival Spotify, with 40 million active users in 56 markets, whose valuation of £5.52 Billion, $8billion, took six years to reach. Streaming is modern dominant form of music distribution, as download sales decline. In the US, total sales of album downloads fell 9 per cent in 2o14 while sales of individual tracks fell by 12 per cent, while the demand for streaming increased over 50 per cent with 164 billion songs streamed, according data from Neilsen Music. Deezer, the French based streaming service has over 6.3 million users and Tidal, the artist owned service has 1 million subscribers.
