Apple ponders over tidal wave
Apple is considering to bid and potential take over for Jay Z’s music streaming service, Tidal because of its strong ties to popular artists like Kayne West, Madonna. Tidal is the first music service with High Fidelity sound quality, High Definition music videos and curated editorial, positioned itself as the main rival to Spotify, last March when it joined forces with a host of music stars, following criticism of the amount they pay acts in royalties. Swedish company owned Tidal was bought by rap mogul Jay Z, for £42m ($56m). Jay Z’s launch event in New York was attended by Kanye West lyrical genius of a generation and launch partner and user of Private Bay the file sharing site, Alicia Keys and his wife Beyonce, who have stakes in the company, and other co-owners Calvin Harris and Chris Martin who showed their presence via video link.
Last month, West unveiled a controversial video to his song Famous, featuring depictions of a host of naked celebrities including Taylor Swift using Tidal. Tidal has exclusive streaming service offering back catalogue of the late music superstar Prince, who died in April after an accidental overdose.
Tidal’s high definition audio and HD music movies, is double the amount of the highest Spotify monthly cost.
