Art London
THE PERFECT WAY TO GET OUT AND ABOUT AND JOIN THE ARTISTIC ELITE
documented in the wonderful “Art London” a new book on the scene.
This neat little book is a wonderful guide to all things Art mainly in London. I have been to some of the Art Fairs referred to on page 8 and 9 and they are wonderfully “escapist” in many ways and harbour all sorts of creative works and pander to many tastes. The fairs include The Affordable Art Fair and The Other Art Fair which happen more than once a year and you can feast your eyes on so many works which beckon to be owned, so the book advises on buying, putting you on track to decide what to purchase, or just to stare longingly as a “voyeur”.
Modern artists are eclectic and adventurous, off the wall and ground breaking. Some modern art annoys or embarrasses or angers, other drives home modern messages, create humour and cynical laughter or simply stun. No, here is a list of all the art related material which is covered:- Royal Academy, London School, Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, Christies, William Blake, Vorticism, Sotheby’s, Whitechapel Gallery, David Bomberg, National Gallery, Tate Modern, Frieze, Gluck, Bloomsbury Group, NEO Naturists, Black Arts Movement, White Cube, Kitchen Sink, Angelica Kauffman, Seven & Five Mimosa House, Fourth Plinth, Colony Room.
Right inside the cover is a list of the (in oder) Central, North, West, East and South areas whcih are covered in Art London. with page numbers. Be assured favourites like David Hockney, Tracey Emin, Leon Kossoff, Gilbert & George, Lucian Freud and Gwen John are covered in this book as well as some older equally established artists from a byegone age.
If you’ve never been to an Art Fair, this book will guide you around a few of them as well as embracing what you can can find there – ancient and modern. Once you are known on the circuit, you may receive free invites to open evenings where something pettillant can be imbibed whilst you view and consider buying.
What better way to enter 2020 than to be armed with a plan to keep up with the restaurants and feature films not to mention the theatre but to ALSO take in art…its a game of two halves – the artist and the viewer. ENJOY.
