Massachusetts State police charged 48-year-old Darren Halliwell, from Aspull, a village in Manchester country, after an incident on a British Airways plane forced the captain to make an unscheduled landing. He allegedly assaulted a woman he was travelling with before clashing with cabin crew. British Airways flight 195, from London, heading to Houston, Texas had to land at Logan Airport in Boston, where he was arrested by troopers and charged for interfering with flight crew. After Darren’s removal from the flight the plane continued to it destination. Halliwell will be expected to be brought before East Boston District Court tomorrow.

A spokesman for the airline said: “our customers and crews deserves to enjoy the flight and not to suffer any sort of abuse. This sort of behaviour will not be tolerated and the captain took the decision to divert the airline to Boston as a precaution”.
