Bill Gates (60), Microsoft head although 4.2 billion poorer than 2015, his net worth of $75bn, is the world’s richest billionaire for the 17th time in 22 years, beating Mexico’s Carlos Slim Helu, who came fourth, behind Zara’s Amancio Ortega and Warren Buffet, according to Forbes’ annual ranking of billionaires. Other top ten include Amazon’s Jeff Bezos fifth and Mark Zukerberg of Facebook at sixth. Oracle’s Larry Ellison at seventh, Michael Bloomberg at eighth, and tied for ninth are David and Charles Koch.
Forbes’ 2016 list of the World’s Billionaires includes 1810 billionaires down from 1826 a year ago. The top 50 wealthiest in the world control $1.46 Trillion more than the annual GDP of Australia, Mexico or Spain.
Indian-born British Srichand and Gopichand Hinduja are the 66th richest people on globe and worth £9.1bn (US $ 13.9bn) are only Britons on the list of world’s richest 80 billionaires, at 94 in the world is the UK’s richest landlord Gerald Grosvenor – the 6th Duke of Westminster worth £7.9bn ( US $ 12bn), and godfather to Prince William. and on 119British property moguls David and Simon Reuben worth £6.7bn ( US $ 10.2bn).
Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani (58) rnaking 36th on the list with a net worth of $20.6bn, leading the pack of 84 Indian Billionaires in 2016.
China has got most newcomer billionaires 70 of them followed by US 33 and Germany 28.
