British Airways flight evacuated as white smoke filled cabin
British Airways flight BA 422 which departed from London heathrow at 15:10 BST on Monday and landed in Valencia was evacuated after white smoke filled the cabin shortly before landing.
BA apologised to the 175 Passengers , two pilots and six cabin crew on board the aircraft an Airbus A321 and issued a statement saying “ the flight had experienced a technical issue as it approached Valencia”
Three passengers were taken to hospital and have since been discharged. BA said staff members assisted customers in the airport terminal after the evacuation.
It is suspected the white smoke appeared to come through the air conditioning system into the cabin.
As the plane began to descend quickly calls to “get down” in order to breathe the cleaner air near the floor of the aircraft.
The pilot who had a gas mask on as the cockpit was full of smoke did a remarkable job to make a safe and pretty smooth landing.
The cabin crew was unable to open the emergency exists for “three or four minutes” after the plane landed, then passenger were able to slid down the emergency chutes to the runaway,
